(No spoilers) Novels and other tie in stuff

I'm a pretty big reader and I like the odd mystery book or what have you. I work a lot of nights and it can get pretty quiet. I saw and grabbed a supernatural book. It was on sale. I'm pretty sure it was the first one (nevermore).

Okay. So. I wasn't expecting a literary masterpiece and I'm not even sure if I would call it terrible. It was... A little slow moving and also muddled with different story lines. And the language seems off but maybe it's just dated (the book seems to be set in like season 1 or 2). But it's not like 50 shades of grey bad. But it's not really all that good either. I picked out both killers the first time we saw both of them.

So my question is... Do these get any better? Because they seem to have some potential. They're just little one offs where the guys go kill monsters and those are always my favourite episodes.

Also, Google says there are comics. I'm surprised I haven't seen them before because I love comics. But I think they're published by an offshoot of DC which I don't tend to follow so that may explain why. Anyone read them? Are they any good? There's a set of them that lead up to Sam leaving which looked slightly interesting.
